Dr Oliver is an experienced General Surgeon whose focus is the care for patients with:
- Breast Conditions
- Breast Cancer,
- Benign Breast conditions, and
- Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (breast reduction techniques in cancer treatment)
- Implant Based Breast Reconstruction
- Endocrine Disorders & Thyroid Conditions
The surgical management of endocrine disorders specifically:
- Thyroid lumps/cancers,
- Parathyroid tumours, and
- Adrenal tumours.
General Surgery- Salivary Gland Conditions,
- Hernia Surgery,
- Gallbladder Disease and Surgery
For breast and thyroid conditions Dr Oliver can provide immediate diagnostic ultrasound of the breast and thyroid, as well as ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration and core biopsy. This allows the provision of a streamlined and quick assessment.
Dr Oliver has developed expertise in implant-based breast reconstruction following mastectomy.
Dr Oliver provides, participates and contributes research data to the Australian Breast Device Registry and has been involved in a number of important clinical trials, such as
- the International Breast Cancer Study Group DCIS trial,
- The Sentinel Node vs Axillary Clearance Trial (SNAC),
- the TARGIT trial (intraoperative radiotherapy), and
- a local trial of the provision of information for contralateral prophylactic mastectomy;
Dr Oliver is the organiser and chair of the SJOG Murdoch Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Treatment Team;
